Winter Solstice 2018
It is the season for gathering family and friends together.
Here is a poem I wrote inspired by the Norwegian song “Venn” or Friend which was sung by a group of Norwegian artists as a way to raise money after the Indian Ocean tsunami on Dec 26th 2004:
When the sky burns black,
And the sun is no longer there.
When the day falls apart,
When the ocean needs crutches.
When the meaning is little,
And the emptiness is so severe.
When the faith is tired,
I’m still here,
I can be a friend!
I see that you are falling,
I can be a friend!
When nothing can be done,
There is one thing I can do,
I can be a friend!
It is also the season for kindness and gift giving. As we reflect, let us make that extra effort to bring that positivity and friendship, even to a stranger. They may be hurting and you can be that friend.
In the darkest day, you can be a light.
Happy Winter Solstice 2018 and Happy New Year!
