She has been called Australia’s biggest export. She has been called the face of Australia. She is Australia’s biggest selling artist and now she has been inducted in to the ARIA Hall of Fame during the Australian Record Industry Association awards on Sunday November 27th 2011.
She is known by one name, Kylie. And she is gearing up to celebrate 25 years in the music industry.
Who is Kylie Minogue? She is the girl next door turned girl you wish was next door who has sold over 70million records worldwide. She rose to fame in Australia and the UK on the soap Neighbors. She recorded Locomotion among other songs as a demo, but was discoved covering the song at a charity event. She released the track in 1987 to great success in Australia becoming the biggest selling single of the decade.
The next 25 years contained ups and down but it went from success to success including the hits I Should Be So Lucky, Better The Devil You Know, Spinning Around, Can’t Get You Out of My Head, and All The Lovers. Despite breast cancer interupting her Showgirl Tour in 2005, she pushed forward promissing fans she would back. In late 2006 she stormed back on the tour Showgirl Homecoming. People admired her strength, courage, and humility. She has become one the most loved and admired artists in the music industry. Her lastest album Aphrodite went straight to number one in the UK and Australia. The Aphrodite Les Folies Tour hit 77 shows in 5 continents.
And to celebrate in 2012 she is expected to release a different sorts of album, as a gift to her fans. It will include rerecordings of her songs in a more orchestral & acoustic settings in addition to new songs. In addition rumours swirl about a different more intimate tour to follow.
